Fruity Ladies with School Supplies

Mrs. Glenda White opened with prayer. After which Ms. Kathy Gass started with the door prizes. Once this was done, Miss Alanna gave everyone some pretty funny instructions about the food. Who would think that a person can get so full from eating food. Ms. Angela Fitch spoke to all of us, and then commenced with the Gal Pal swap. Once that was over with, we were able to hear from our guest speaker, Peggy Anderson. Man, was this a joy.
Mrs. Anderson spoke about being a military kid. Her dad was in the military for 30 years. Her dad was very disciplined, and at times her forgot that his kids were not his troops. When Peggy was around the age of 12, her family moved back to Alaska. They lived there until she was about 17 or 18. Peggy dearly loved her dad, so bear with the story. Every Saturday their rooms were inspected- military style. Her parents were from two different backgrounds. Mom was an A/G deacons daughter, while her dad was raised worldly. Peggy remembers her dad being a "Ladies man", and her mom cried a lot. Peggy viewed her moms tears as a sign of weakness. In which she later found out, her mom was really a strong woman. Peggy would tell her mom to leave. Peggy's mom a zero self-confidence.
When Peggy was around the age of 13; Peggy decided that her dad beat them simply to see them cry. Well, she decided that she would no longer cry. She told herself "Do NOT allow him to see the tears". When the next time came around for her to get a beating, she didn't cry. Her dad decided that he would beat the defiance out of her. It ended up with her dad having her in a choke hold. At which time her mom jumped on his back and made him stop. After this, Peggy didn't cry for four years.
Instead of crying, Peggy wrote. Her English instructor encouraged her to write. Peggy graduated high school and went to West Texas to college and majored in Journalism.
at this time, Peggy read something that she had written. This was about her walls being up. She told of how her walls have crumbled some. as well as how God is bottling her tears and pouring them out and blessing them.
Peggy has married two soldiers. (Once it's in your blood, it doesn't leave.) Her first husband died from cancer, and she was able to hold his hand when he finally passed on. (OK, cold chills)Then she met her second soldier, Mr. Anderson.
While living in Colorado Springs, Co they went to a church as visitors. When they entered they noticed that on this Sunday; there were bushel baskets of pins with flags attached. They were wanting people to wear the pins and pray for the soldiers name that was attached to the flag. Since her dad was in the military for 30 years, and he had done 3 tours of Vietnam, she had married two soldiers, and her son was currently serving- Peggy pulled one out to wear. When she read the name of the soldier, Peggy almost passed out. The name on her pin was that of her own son. She couldn't wait to go home and tell Warren (Mr. Anderson) about this. So after church, she told Warren. He didn't believe her. So she had to prove it to him. She told him that it was God's way of telling her that her boy is going to be fine.
Then Mrs. Peggy began to explain how her family viewed her. Her dad described her as walking to the beat of a different drum. Her mom called her stubborn, her sister said that she had a dry humor. Her best friend calls her loyal. Her husband calls her pretty.
She didn't show her pain, but she prayed for God's help. Going down HWY 14 her and Mr. Anderson were listening to the Cd "Grace and Mercy got me though", and she started to sob. Warren didn't understand. He pulled over. This was just the beginning; every few days she would sob over everything. Mostly, her tears flow with music. Black Gospel is her favorite, and she does like the blues.
She remembers her mom telling her that she would not always be in control. The truth behind that is she ended up here at Christian Assembly by accident. She was looking for a different church. She is now a wonderful part of our family. we love ya Mrs. Peggy.
Let's not forget all of the wonderful school supplies that were brought to the meeting, as well as those that were brought in after the meeting. It was such a blast to organize and hand out the supplies to teh kids at Christian Assembly. Thank you Ladies!
